*Which female celebrities look best in a Yukata?*

Yukata is a summer fashion staple in Japan. This year (as well as in the past year) a top polling company Oricon asked men and women ranging from middle school students to people in their 40s who they thought was “The Best Female Celebrity in a Yukata“.

The top choice was actreand singer Yui Aragaki (also known as Gakky). She has black hair, white skin and a slender figure. She has the image of a young woman who displays the feminine virtues of old Japan. She is also ranked #9 in the female celebrities.

She is followed by actress Aoi Miyazaki. Yukatas totally suit her. She’s so pure and adorable. Just like Gakky, she’s known for her really cute and bright smiling face and you simply have to have a nice smile when wearing a yukata. Yukatas only suit women with a beautiful smile just like her.

An actress Maki Horikita took third place. Her slender figure and small face look good with a yukata.

Brief explanation:

If you consider the white wedding dress a fashion item, then you would have to consider the kimono a fashion item too. Most modern Japanese women do not wear the kimono as an everyday item, but it is still a very important part of a Japanese woman’s wardrobe.

The kimono is a form of traditional Japanese clothing that people used to wear in every day life until in the middle of 19th century (the opening of the Japan to the rest of the world). Today kimono are mainly worn for special occasions or events, but in a major Japanese city you can still see some Japanese women wearing them. There are many different kinds of kimono. They are all different in design, who wears them, when and why.

The yukata is a japanese summer kimono worn by both men and women. Originally of pure white cotton and worn after bathing, yukata were later dyed with indigo. Today, a variety of patterns are used in making yukata. Yukata are worn today during summer festivals, called “matsuri,” at temple or shrine fairs and are provided to patrons of Japanese inns, known as “ryokans.”
